Introduction
BSc (Hons) Construction Project Management(Reg.No.:251152)-This 16-month programme is awarded by University of Central Lancashire and it includes the study of quality management system, project management skills in application to the design and construction of buildings.
This 15-month programme is awarded by the University of Lancashire and focuses on developing students’ skills in the management of building and construction projects.
Professional Qualification

The Construction Project Management degree programme is accredited by: 

  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), graduates who fulfil specified education and professional development requirements are eligible to apply for Membership of RICS; 
  • Chartered Institute of Building, UK (CIOB), graduates who fulfil specified education and professional development requirements are eligible to apply for Membership of CIOB; 
  • Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), graduates who fulfil specified education and professional development requirements are eligible to apply for Membership of CABE; 
  • the Hong Kong Institution of Incorporated Engineers (HKIIE), graduates who fulfil specified education and professional development requirements are eligible for applying for Membership of HKIIE; 
  • Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (HKICM), graduates who fulfill specified education and professional development requirements are eligible to apply for Membership of HKICM; and also 
  • The Institute of Clerks of Works, UK (ICWCI) and The Institute of Clerks of Works, Hong Kong (HKICW), graduates who fulfill relevant working experience are eligible to apply for membership of ICWCI.
     

         

The Construction Project Management degree programme equips students with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for managing building and construction projects in Hong Kong. The programme focuses on project planning, resource management, legal compliance, and modern construction technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM). 

Throughout the construction management degree, students will learn to balance key project objectives - time, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability, while navigating the complex local construction environment. This prepares graduates to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and deliver projects that meet both client and statutory requirements.

Programme Content

 
The Construction Project Management degree programme includes the study of quality management system, project management skills applying to the design and construction of buildings, the study of health and safety management in application to the construction process. The programme comprises three basic components: 
 
  • Technology of construction 
  • Management and organisation of resources
  • Legal framework set by society relating to contract, safety and environment 

Students have to complete 6 taught modules and a dissertation in four semesters, the minimum length of study is 15 months and the maximum length of study for this programme is 30 months.

Teaching Facilities 

Engineering & Construction Laboratory

The Engineering & Construction Laboratory is available for building, engineering and construction project management students to conduct a variety of experiments and tests. It provides equipment for material testing, structural analysis, energy efficiency evaluation, and more. Students can explore new construction design methods and concepts using different materials and technologies, and evaluate the feasibility and performance.

Articulation Path

Graduates may progress to the MSc Construction Project Management* (Reg No.: 252849) programme offered by HKCT and awarded by the University of Lancashire. This programme deepens expertise in advanced project management and leadership, enhancing career advancement and professional recognition in the construction industry

Entry Requirements
  • Applicants should be holders of Higher Diploma in Building Technology awarded by HKCT with relevant industrial experience; or
  • Holders of Higher Diploma/ Associate Degree/ Higher Certificate in Building Studies/ Facilities Management/ Estate Management/ Surveying or related discipline from local recognised institutions, with relevant industrial experience.
  • Applicants should possess English proficiency level up to IELTS 6 or a pass in HKCT English Test or English as medium of instruction in previous postsecondary study or HKDSE English: Level 3 at Category A English language or equivalent, or
  • Applicants should possess English Proficiency fulfilling the University's requirement.
  • Applicants who do not satisfy the above academic entry requirement may be admitted at the discretion of the University

Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme

HKCT Alumni Fee Reduction*

  • Applicants who have graduated from the Centre of International Education of HKCT (CIE) and have successfully completed a one-year or longer programme within the past 3 academic years, and who have successfully enrolled in a higher-level programme provided by CIE are eligible for this benefit.
  • 3% of the total tuition fee reduction for the higher-level programme will be deducted from the final instalment of the tuition payment.

*Remark: In the event of any dispute, the decision of HKCT shall be final.
